The 2nd Annual REFUEL Electric Vehicle Motorsports Day is done. It was a great day at the track (pictures and links to video to follow) and the competition in the SportElectric Time Trial (especially the Prototype Class) hints at an exciting future. The Kleenspeed WX10 bettered last year’s time with a 1:42.512. The Wrightspeed X1 showed a real challenge to the leader but after spinning in Turn-6 caught traffic in the make-up run and finished 9 seconds behind for 2nd Place followed by the Palotov Motorsports DP1e. A hot lap spin also vexed the Optamotive E.Rex in Turn-11, resulting in a 4th place finish. On the motorcycle front, a limited field of competitors gave Kenyon Kluge an easy first place on his modified Zero S with a 2:11.475 followed by Ryan Hollowell’s Honda conversion and Nicholas Murphy on his Zero. The production class was taken by Nathan Gabriel with a 1:55.641 followed by returning competitors Bill Arnett and Stephen Casner. Here’s some video from the event. Much more information to come.

Ian Wright has registered to attend this year’s REFUEL event with his X1. If you haven’t seen this electrified adaptation of an Ariel Atom smoke a variety of supercar competitors all over YouTube, just google “Wrightspeed X1″.

We’re happy to see that Zero Motorcycles will be represented at REFUEL this year by Keynon Kluge of KSquared Racing riding a Zero S. Kenyon participated in the first US TTXGP so his presence in the SportElectric TT should make things interesting on the bike side. More participant info to follow.
